Where Did This Idea Come From?
Over the past summer, I got some experience using my aquatics facility’s pool chemical control switch box which gave me inspiration for innovation. One day, I was asked to go into the pump room and adjust the chlorine level in the pool. As I stared at the “Chemtrol” box, I wondered to myself: “Is there a pool system where all chemicals can get added by the touch of a button or tap on a screen?” It was that moment that I started thinking about an idea that would soon evolve into my prototype program: Blue View Pools Monitoring System.
Design Overview
For my design, I plan to have a large touch screen display that would allow for easy usage in reading and inputting results. The control box’s user interface would have a straight-forward process and the system would include a pool chemical Standard Operating Procedure. This new control switch box would give a reading for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and water temperature. It would also provide recommendations on how much of a certain chemical product is needed to correct an imbalance, what to do in case of a biological hazard incident, and numerous other pool-related details and information.
